Government has vowed to collect every penny that was wrongly paid to anybody, including businessman, Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

It will also ensure that the state 'purse' is saved to ensure judicious spending and from further borrowing.

The Minister of Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, said this in Accra yesterday, when his ministry took its turn at the Meet-the-Press series.

Flanked by his deputies, Ato Sarpong and Felix Ofosu Kwakye, as well as Presidential Staffer, James Agyenim-Boateng and George Loh, Member of parliament for North Dayi and member often Government communications Team, the Minister said government was determined "to collect a dime wrongfully paid."

The National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Sammy Awuku says he is innocent of a bribery allegation he has been accused of.

Mr. Awuku was alleged to have pocketed some whooping amount from a “deal” he negotiated with the United Progressive Party (UPP) flagbearer, Akwasi Addai Odike.

Mr. Odike according to his party executives received GHS500, 000 as bribe from the NPP to endorse Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to the executives, investigations had revealed that the party’s National Organiser, Mr. Saahene, also received GHS6000 of the said amount while Mr. Sammy Awuku, who is the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, also took 10 per cent after brokering the deal.

The New Patriotic Party leadership, has in a press statement issued on Tuesday, outlined some orchestrations by the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama aimed at stealing the votes of electorates.

According to the party, they have discovered that the NDC wants to "cheat by using election officers who have been carefully selected for this exercise. (2) They want to intimidate voters and our agents with violence and the threat of violence. (3) They want to excite hatred amongst northerners against southerners, particularly Akans in order to continue exploiting the north. (4) They want to use cash and other material things to buy the conscience of voters. (5) Above all, the NDC has a big plan to buy the loyalty of party executives and polling agents of the NPP and all the other opposition parties."

The NPP also noted that the President wants to manipulate the system in his pursuit of victory in the December polls.

Nduom, Konadu, Edward Mahama: Dec Polls'll Be Rigged

 Three political parties taking part in this year’s presidential and parliamentary election have said they are confident the results will not be free and fair.

A joint statement signed by Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP); Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, flag bearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP); and Dr Edward Mahama, flag bearer of the People’s National Convention (PNC) said: “We … wish to put on public record that the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections will not be free and fair.”

Gov’t awards contract to Woyome despite scandal - OccupyGhana allege

OccupyGhana says it has discovered a GH¢35 million contract awarded to embattled businessman, Alfred Woyome, although the dust is yet to settle on a scandalous judgement debt awarded to him.

Mr Woyome is yet to refund a GH¢51.2 million judgement debt he obtained from the state which according to the Supreme Court was acquired through unconstitutional and invalid contracts between the state and Waterville Holdings Limited in 2006 for the construction of stadia for CAN 2008.

Despite the apex court’s ruling, the businessman is currently fighting the retrieval of the money by the state, claiming among other things, that he earned it.
