Full List Of Prez Akufo-Addo’s Regional Ministers

 President Nana Akufo-Addo has named his regional ministers in accordance with Article 256(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution which empowers him with the prior approval of parliament, to appoint for each region, a minister who shall represent him.

The president charged all the nominees – if they are approved by the House of Parliament, to deliver on the promise of the New Patriotic Party in the various regions.

Mahama left economy in poorer shape than we anticipated - Akufo-Addo

 President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has indicated that Ghana’s economy is in a much poorer shape than he anticipated.

“I’m hearing our economy is in poor shape and I suspect from what I am hearing and the evidence that is coming to me is that it is even in poorer shape than we even anticipated,” he said.

The President's made this known on Tuesday, January 24, during the official announcement of ten additional ministerial nominees who when approved, would serve as Regional Ministers in his government.

Kwesi Pratt Calls For Reform In The Parliamentary Appointments Committee

 Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. says there should be a reform in the composition of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kwesi Pratt expressed worry over some members of the Appointments Committee, wondering why Ministerial nominees are on the Committee.

According to him, this culture doesn't help the vetting process.

“The nominees are part of the Committee which is vetting them. I can’t understand it . . . I’ve thought about it but can’t understand it,” he said.

Ministry Releases GH¢70m To Pay Election Officials

The Ministry of Finance has directed the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to release GH¢70 million to the Electoral Commission (EC) to pay off part of the cost of the December 7, 2016 general election.

The money will assist the EC to defray part of its GH¢293 million indebtedness to election officials and companies that provided services during the December 7 general election.

According to the Chief Director of the Ministry of Finance, Mr Patrick Nomo, the amount was to assist the EC to meet its current commitments with regard to goods and services.

The ease, at which Senior Minister-designate, Yaw Osafo Marfo, answered questions during his turn of vetting, has been hailed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

Hon. Osafo Marfo was first to be vetted today by the Parliamentary Appointments Committee and Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako believes he deserves commendation for his self-controlled state of mind.

Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako alias Chairman Wontumi disclosed to Peacefmonline.com in an interview that he enjoyed listening and watching the former Finance Minister during his interaction with the Vetting Committee.

State Attorneys resume duty after three-month strike

The Association of State Attorneys has called off its three-month strike and would resume work today, Monday, January 23, 2017.

The State Attorneys declared a strike in October 2016 over government’s failure to meet its demand for improved conditions of service.

The Attorney-General’s office described the strike as illegal, and further directed them to return to work by Tuesday, January 3, 2017, or be “considered as having vacated post.”

The state attorneys, however, insisted that their strike was legal and hence will not return to work.

Government extends Subah contract

The government has extended its contract with Subah Infosolutions to continue to monitor the country’s revenue in the telecommunications sector for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to a letter dated December 1, 2016, issued by the GRA and signed by its Commissioner-General, Mr George Blankson, the contract extension had been approved by the Minister of Finance.

The letter, which was copied to the Telecommunication Chamber, as well as the telecommunications companies, said: “We wish to inform you that Subah Infosolutions Ghana Limited has been granted approval to continue its role of monitoring revenue from the telecommunication companies on behalf of the Ghana Revenue Authority.

Abdulai Naaba, younger brother of Collins Dauda outgoing Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has fled Ghana into neighbouring Burkina Faso.


Controversial man of God and Founder of the International Godsway Church Bishop Daniel Obinim who revealed this to his congregation on the 31st December watch night service, disclosed that the wife of the runaway Naaba is also a member of his church.



He failed to state exactly when Naaba left Ghana but said he has been weeping ever since he left the shores of the country for fear that the incoming government may hunt him down for comments he purportedly made.

Mahama's exit has ensured sanity on airwaves - Prof. Adei

A former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Prof. Stephen Adei said the exit of President John Mahama has brought sanity on the airwaves.

According to him, "Even before we see the installation of a new president, the atmosphere has become better."

Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM, he said the last two public utterances of President John Mahama after his defeat in the December 7 polls have been "very presidential."

Nana Akufo-Addo drops names of three more appointees

President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has mentioned three additional names for ministerial positions subject to parliamentary approval after his inauguration.

The names are Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture; Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Mr Isaac Asiamah, the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

 The outcome of the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is one of shock and disbelief for key political watchers and analysts.

The nature of the defeat leaves the most ardent activists of the party and sympathisers alike scratching their heads in search of answers if not the solution to this mind-boggling puzzle.

For those of us who were living witnesses to the party’s defeat in the year 2000, we are in a very unique position to proffer some pieces of advice particularly as it relates to the future of this great political machine called the NDC.

Akufo-Addo picks Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto as his Agric Minister

The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has hinted that Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto who is currently the Member of Parliament for Kwadaso in Kumasi, and the Minority Spokesperson on Agriculture would be his Minister of Agriculture.

Dr Akoto would not be part of the next Parliament which begins its tenure from January 7, 2017 because he lost his re-election bid to Dr S. Kwadwo Nuamah, a young lecturer at the University of Ghana and new entrant.

Nana Addo gave the hint of Dr Akoto as his pick for the Agriculture portfolio when he met a delegation of some Zongo chiefs at his Nima Residence in Accra.

Ghana’s former President and leader of the 31st December Revolution, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, says the NDC’s massive rejection at the polls is a clear indication that the party has lost the moral high ground.

The former President said the NDC lost the elections way before December 7 because it chose to “persistently and unrepentantly stay on the slippery slope despite the warning lights right” in its face.

The former president also spoke against elements he described as “uncouth and uncultured” in the party and government “chose to insult and disrespect some of us”.
