Origi, Sturridge fire Reds into semis

Divock Origi opened his Liverpool account with a hat-trick and Daniel Sturridge scored twice in a 6-1 demolition of Southampton on Wednesday in the League Cup quarterfinals.

Sadio Mane headed Southampton in front after 39 seconds, but Sturridge marked his first start since October 4 with a quick-fire brace and 20-year-old Belgian striker Origi claimed a treble as the visitors roared back, with substitute Jordon Ibe also on target.

The New Patriotic Party under an Akufo  Addo government is promising in its response to the 2016 budget to abolish a lot of taxes in various sectors of the economy.

The party today in a two hour address indicated the its position and response to the 2016 budget which was present to parliament by Finance Minister Seth Tekpe in November.

Addressing a crowd of party supporters and media Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,  the NPP’s running mate said the solution to fixing an ailing economy is not to over burden citizens with taxes in an attempt to generate more revenue.

Esther Cobbah denies receiving GNPC cash

Esther Cobbah, a former Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation has denied claims of receiving payment as end of service benefits.

In a statement, she said "as at now, no payment has been made to me by GNPC though I am owed significant amounts for work done and from my contributions to the Provident Fund whilst I was in the employment of the Corporation."

She argued that the claims by K.T. Hammond appear to be attempts to "deny me my due after service that I have rendered to the Corporation."

Authorities of GNPC on Monday, November 30, 2015 confirmed the payment of end of service benefits to some senior management personnel who were removed from office in 2001.
