MP says he owes Jerry Rawlings no favours

Hon. Nii Armah Ashittey, the Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency in the Greater Accra Region is seething with anger over claims of his ingratitude to former President John Rawlings.

The MP told Joy News he owes the Rawlings' particularly, ex-president John Rawlings no favours and did not enter into politics a destitute.

"Today somebody can come and tell me I should show gratitude to Jerry Rawlings. For what? Why should I? I served Ghana, I didn't serve Jerry Rawlings.

"In any case when i was coming into politics, i was not looking for jobs. I was doing well in my job. I never stayed in this country for two months without going abroad. What are they talking about? They should go and ask Jerry Rawlings whether i owe him any favour. I do not owe him any favour," he said at a press conference held Monday.

'Messi, Suarez, Neymar are not machines'

Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez have scored 107 goals between them this season but after Barcelona's celebrated trio failed to find the net in the defeat by Real Madrid, coach Luis Enrique defended them by declaring "they aren't machines".

Luis Enrique said he was not concerned about the physical state of his all-star attacking line despite their below-par performance in Saturday's 2-1 home defeat.

Although Real halted their 39-game unbeaten run, the 45-year-old coach said he retained full confidence in his side as they prepared to host Atletico Madrid in the first leg of an all-Spanish Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Flagbearers, running mates to be given full police protection - IGP

The Ghana Police Service has expressed its readiness to provide protection for Presidential Candidates and their running mates before and during the November 7 general election.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. John Kudalor, who made this known at a meeting  held with the chairpersons and general secretaries of the various political parties said the move forms part of security arrangements being initiated to ensure a peaceful electioneering process.

“We are prepared to provide four and two personnel each for the flag-bearers and their running mates respectively," the IGP said, adding that party executives are allowed to make inputs to decide the kind of security details they would want to be assigned by the Police.

Prez Mahama Names Dr. Issahaku As New BoG Governor

 Dr. Issahaku
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku as new Governor of the Bank of Ghana.

The Second Deputy Governor replaces resigned governor, Dr. Henry Kofi Wampah who has proceeded on leave prior to retirement.

Dr. Issahaku, until this appointment, effective today April 04, 2016, was a deputy Governor of the Bank.

He has served on many committees including the Economy and Research Committee, Strategic Planning and Budget Committee, and the Monetary Policy Committee, of Bank of Ghana.

The LMVCA with other allied opposition pressure group, are joining the NPP in the Ashanti region to embark on a massive demonstration on Wednesday April, 6, 2016 in a fresh episode of its agitations towards the compilation of a new register ahead of the elections.
A statement released by Convener of the LMVCA Sunday said:”Wednesday’s protest in the Ashanti Region will not be the end of this matter. It is only the beginning of a series of public agitations to force the EC to be professional, unbias, wise and responsive to the concerns over the electoral process.”

DKB denies being jilted by boo over April fool proposal

Ghanaian comedian, DKB has said rumours of his girlfriend parting ways with him as result of an ‘expensive’ April fool prank on Friday are untrue. According to him their relationship is intact.

The ex-BBA star on April Fool’s Day proposed marriage to Ghone TV presenter, AJ Sarpong in a live television broadcast and presented her with an emerald ring.
She accepted his proposal and amidst tears of joy, gave him a kiss.

DKB crowned it all by posting pictures of them on his social media with the caption “she said yes! Glad we made it public now. I love you very much. Oya chop kiss. Social network went buzzing with adorable congratulatory messages with a few doubtful ones.

A Deputy Minister of Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has described as "redundant, vague and speculative" a ten-point plan to curb unemployment espoused by the vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“…when I heard that Dr Bawumia had gone to propose a 10 year plan to solve unemployment, I had looked forward to a plan that was convincing; a plan that would challenge the NDC to come out with proposals that were well thought through and that were feasible in terms of addressing whatever problem exist…to my utter disappointment…only two words describe what Dr Bawumia put forward; infact three: redundant, vague and speculative”
