King Solomon FC apologise for referee assault in Olympics game

King Solomon Football Club have issued a statement concerning the assault of referee Sampson Azumah which left the official bleeding with a cut on his head.

Pictures of the state of the referee Azumah following King Solomon’s defeat against Great Olympics in Kwahu Praso emerged on Monday with the match day official’s shirt drenched in blood.

King Solomon Football Club in a statement said they will not protect any of the home fans who were involved in attacking the referee if found guilty. The club also condemned the act which they described as ‘barbaric, absurd and irrational’.

PURC orders ECG to suspend billing software

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), has instructed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG),to suspend the implementation of their new billing software until further notice.

A statement signed by the PURC’s Public Relations Director, Nana Yaa Jantuah, said the directive was necessitated following incessant by complaints by customers alleging over-billing on the part of the ECG.

The PURC late last year sanctioned an increase of 59.2 percent and 67.2 percent for electricity and water respectively but businesses and individuals have expressed displeasure with what they say is the astronomical rise in the cost of utility.

IEA COMMENCES DISCUSSIONS WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES OF THE 2016 ELECTION

1.   As part of preparations towards the 2016 Presidential Debate Series, the IEA held separate meetings with representatives of the flag bearers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) on Thursday, the 19th of May, 2016 at the IEA in Accra.

2.   The NPP was represented by Mr. Peter Mac Manu, Campaign Chairman of the NPP flag bearer and Mr. John Boadu, acting General Secretary of the NPP. The CPP was represented by Prof Edmund Delle, Leader and National Chairman and Hajia Hamdatu Haruna, First Vice Chairperson of the CPP.

The young man who is being held for allegedly killing Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, has reportedly claimed that he is now relying on his initial statement he gave to the police.

He had earlier claimed that he and two other people were contracted to kill the MP.

Daniel Asiedu, aka Sexy Don Don, a 21-year-old native of Larteh in the Eastern Region, in his first statement, made mind-blowing revelations upon his arrest on February 11; and even mentioned the amount of money paid him by his ‘recruiter(s)’ as well as the role allegedly played by an unnamed MP belonging to a certain political persuasion.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is reported to have noted that the current NDC – John Mahama administration, has no excuse for worsening the living standards and conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian and called on the people of Ghana to massively elect Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the upcoming election.

Blame A-G For Delay In Nov 7 Election Date, Not EC - Gen Mosquito

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is angry over the Minority Leader of Parliament, Hon Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu's statement that the Electoral Commission (EC) is to be blamed for the delay in the amendment of the Constitution to change the date for the country’s General elections.

According to General Mosquito, he does not know why Parliament has to blame the Electoral Commission (EC) and IPAC for the delay in amending the Constitution which is solely the responsibility of Parliament.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, General Mosquito pointed out that the issue at hand has nothing to do with Constitutional Instrument (CI) for which the Electoral Commission (EC) has to bring to Parliament.

He explained that Parliament makes law and not the EC; thus this is a Constitutional amendment and after that the EC, base on the amendment to conduct elections on November 7, 2016.

Supreme Court stops High Court from hearing Zanetor case

The Supreme Court has suspended the case of Nii Armah Ashitey and Dr Zanetor Rawlings at the High Court until it determines a constitutional matter involved in the case.

In a 4-1 majority decision, the apex court ruled that the High Court erred in law when it assumed jurisdiction over Article 94 clause 1(a) of the 1992 Constitution.

Article 94 clause 1 (a) states that a person must be a registered voter before he or she can contest as a Member of Parliament.

NDC Has No Excuse For Suffering Of Ghanaians – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, has noted that the current NDC – John Mahama administration, has no excuse for worsening the living standards and conditions of the ordinary Ghanaian and called on the people of Ghana to massively elect Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the upcoming election.

Dr. Bawumia made these comments while on a two-day tour of the Yagaba-Kubore Constituency in the Northern region.

While speaking in Kubori on Tuesday, Dr. Bawumia observed that with the opportunities and resources that had come the way of the current government, Ghanaians should have witnessed significant improvements in livelihoods and standards and that these improvements should have been so clear that the government would not have had to waste time and resources reminding anyone about them.

IMF bailout: Ghana scores high marks on 3rd review

 A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Joël Toujas-Bernaté, visited Ghana from April 27-May 11, 2016, to conduct discussions on the third review of Ghana’s financial and economic programme supported by the IMF’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

The ECF is a lending arrangement that provides sustained programme engagement over the medium to long term in case of protracted balance of payments problems. The arrangement for Ghana in an amount equivalent to SDR 664.20 million (180 percent of quota or about US$918 million) was approved on April 3, 2015.
