King Solomon FC apologise for referee assault in Olympics game

King Solomon Football Club have issued a statement concerning the assault of referee Sampson Azumah which left the official bleeding with a cut on his head.

Pictures of the state of the referee Azumah following King Solomon’s defeat against Great Olympics in Kwahu Praso emerged on Monday with the match day official’s shirt drenched in blood.

King Solomon Football Club in a statement said they will not protect any of the home fans who were involved in attacking the referee if found guilty. The club also condemned the act which they described as ‘barbaric, absurd and irrational’.


The statement which was signed by club president King Solomon Amankwah read:
“What has happened is barbaric, absurd and irrational because the precious life of a human being was at stake.
“King Solomon FC accepts responsibility for the fans behaviour and would not shield anyone found to be part of this senseless act.”
The club said they were apologising with shame and humiliation with respect to what happened in the game against Great Olymiques.
