Explaining their decision, the prosecutor, ACP Okyere Darko, said after investigations, they did not have enough evidence to support the charges levelled against the accused persons.

The Attorney General is currently investigating the circumstances under which the eight were freed.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Information said "Preliminary investigations suggest that the decision was taken without recourse even to the Director of Public Prosecution and may amount to a breach of internal procedures on matters of this nature."

But the former NDC MP however, chastised the AG for what he called a pathetic handling of the case.

He said "The Attorney General and her two deputies must  stop sleeping, wake up from your slumber and do the right thing for mother Ghana.
