Kufuor Urges More Commitment To Food And Nutrition Security

Former President, John Agyekum Kufuor has stressed the need for stronger commitment to food and nutrition security so as to able to see progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the new development agenda after the millennium development goals (MDGs).

"The world needs agriculture to be climate-smart and also nutrition-smart”, he stated.

He was speaking as a panel member and Co-Chair at a side event organised by the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition at the ongoing climate change conference in Paris, France.

Deputy General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen, has lashed out at the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., for accepting a government appointment.

An enraged Obiri Boahen evoked curses on Kwesi Pratt for being a hypocrite, saying he has been on the neck of the NPP for alleged poor performance and lavishing state resources on their family and friends at the expense of the taxpayer. According to him, the Lord has exposed Kwesi Pratt for hiding behind journalism to blast NPP for no apparent reason. ‘God is a King for letting Ghanaians know the true party he belongs. Kwesi Pratt has been an NDC member, but he refuses to come clean on his political party affiliation, God will punish him,’ he said.

Kwadwo Asamoah is back in action for Juventus

Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has made a full recovery from the injuries that has ruled him out of football action for the entire calendar year of 2015.

The Juventus player has not seen a lot of playing time since getting a knee problem at the end of last year. The Ghana international missed the Black Stars’ 2015 Africa Cup of Nations tournament and the second half of last season that saw his side become the Italian Champions.

The injury plague has seen Asamoah not play a part for Juventus this season with a recovery getting so close only for another setback to happen.

On Friday night, Kwadwo Asamoah was named in the starting XI for his Juventus side in their away game against Lazio.

The midfielder could record 69 minutes of playing time under his belt before making way for former Manchester United player Patrice Evra in the 2-0 victory for Juventus.

Terkper - Bawumia’s Assertions ‘A Lie’

Minister of Finance Seth Terkper did not mince words on Wednesday, December 2 in responding to an address by the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, on the 2016 budget statement, describing the assertions of the economist as “a lie”.


Dr Bawumia had stated, inter alia, that government has committed to lay off workers after the 2017 elections under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme.

This he said is contained in Paragraph 65 of the agreement document of the three-year deal.

Dr Bawumia, therefore, asked for maximum transparency from government and IMF in implementing the rationalization programme, a plan about which is expected to be ready this month.

Ribery returns to Bayern training

French winger Franck Ribery admits he was delighted to take part in team training at Bayern Munich on Wednesday for the first time after nearly nine months out with injury.

"It's a super day for me and very emotional," said Ribery after 264 days out with the persistent ankle injury he suffered on March 11.

The 32-year-old hopes to make his comeback on December 12 in a league game at Bavarian neighbours Ingolstadt.

But this Saturday's key clash against fourth-placed Borussia Moenchengladbach or next Wednesday's Champions League game at Dinamo Zagreb are definitely too soon.
