Celebrated cocoa farmer Tetteh Quarshie was not the first person to bring cocoa pods into the country, renowned historian and Associate Professor at the Department of History at the University of Ghana Prof. Akosua Adoma Perbi has stated.

Speaking at the sixth edition of Achimota School’s 90th anniversary education forum Prof. Perbi noted that “historically cocoa was initially brought into Ghana from Brazil by Rev. Haas. Between 1851 and the 1880s, Rev. Haas, Mole and other missionaries cultivated cocoa.”

The Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) in collaboration with Coventry University, United Kingdom, has organised the “International Conference on Education, Technology and Entrepreneurship (ICETE) 2017” in Accra.

The two-day conference, on the theme: “Promoting Development through Technology, Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” seeks to create an environment that would bring together like-minded individuals and groups to share knowledge in the areas of education, technology and entrepreneurship.

Being the first of what would be an annual event, the ICETE would serve as a platform for further discussions in the areas of education, technology, and entrepreneurship as key components for the study of economic growth.

Top businessman’s name pops up in Kumasi hotel murder

78-year old Anthony Owusu Adomako was murdered at the lobby of Coconut Guest House

A Kumasi-based businessman has been fingered as a key suspect by the family of the 78-year-old hotel owner who was stabbed to death on Monday.

Relatives of late Anthony Owusu Adomako, who suspect contract killing, have since filed a complaint with the police.

They cite the businessman (name withheld) as a close business associate of the murdered hotel owner.

$1.3m gold scam covering up by corrupt police administration - US investor

The Director of Green Global Resources Ltd, the company at the centre of the $1.3 gold scam that led to the interdiction of the Legon Police Commander has accused the police administration of cover up.

Addressing the press today [Tuesday], James Barberi took a swipe at the police administration for stalling investigations into the matter three months after the commander was booted out. He described the police as a corrupt institution whose action may have negative impact on the country.

Ghana’s former Deputy Head of Mission to Saudi Arabia, Hajia Hawawu Boya Gariba, has lent credence to speculations that government heavyweights and influential persons in society are behind the trafficking of young Ghanaian girls to the Gulf states.

Speaking on PM Express on the Joy News channel on Multi TV, Monday, Hajia Gariba said although she would not mention names now, trafficking of girls to the Gulf States, many of whom are abused, has been difficult to fight due to the involvement of these influential persons.

5 suspects arrested for lynching alleged ‘witch’ to be arraigned

 Five suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a 67 year old woman will be dragged before the Bolgatanga Magistrate court today for conspiracy to crime and murder.

The deceased, Yenboka Kenna, who left behind three children was lynched on the 28th of May 2017 at the Pelungu market in the Nabdam district of the Upper East Region.

Sixty three (63) suspects were subsequently rounded up in a joint Police-Military operation last Saturday to assist the Police with their investigations.

Speaking to Citi News, the Bolgatanga Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Samuel Punobyin said, after a thorough screening of the 63 suspects, 5 of them will be arraigned today, while the remaining fifty eight (58) have been granted Police enquiry bail because they were not connected to the issue.
