Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi will miss the next three weeks after suffering the recurrence of a groin injury as Atletico Madrid came from behind to hold Barcelona 1-1 at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.

Ivan Rakitic headed Barca into the lead just before halftime, but Angel Correa slotted home on the hour mark just seconds after Messi limped off to hand Atletico a deserved point.

Earlier, Real Madrid's record-equalling 16-game La Liga win streak came to an end as Villarreal drew 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

With a deplorable road network, lack of potable drinking water, no access to electricity in most of the villages, high levels of youth unemployment, and no senior high school in the constituency, Nana Akufo-Addo noted that the constituency’s association with the NDC over the years had clearly yielded little reward since 1992.

Bad leaders made Africa poor – Prof. Lumumba

Professor P.L.O. Lumumba, renowned Kenyan Law Professor and Pan Africanist
Renowned Kenyan Law Professor and Pan Africanist, Professor P.L.O. Lumumba, has attributed Africa’s endless challenges to the poor quality of political leadership on the continent.

According to him, leaders on the continent have failed to harness the opportunities that abound on the continent to liberate their people economically.

Speaking at a lecture dubbed Africa Must Arise” at the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Lumumba admonished leaders on the continent to sit up. “…We agree unanimously that the problem of Africa is simply and squarely one of leadership.

We can ask ourselves what has been the impact of poor leadership in Africa and we determine for ourselves that indeed African economies continue to punch below their weight because our politics is wrong.” “We agree with Liberia’s Johnson Sirleaf that Africa is poor because it is poorly governed.

Man United look to get back on track v Leicester

Jose Mourinho
After successive Premier League defeats, Manchester United will hope to re-energise their faltering campaign and make up ground on the early pacesetters with victory at home to champions Leicester City on Saturday.

After losing to leaders Manchester City and Watford, either side of a Champions League defeat to Feyenoord, United already trail Pep Guardiola's vibrant City by six points and sit in seventh place.

Manager Jose Mourinho has spoken about his new charges reacting badly to "negativity", which some observers felt he increased with public criticism of defender Luke Shaw after the 3-1 defeat by Watford last weekend.

A 3-1 win over Northampton Town in the League Cup on Wednesday prevented a fourth straight defeat, but it was not an entirely convincing United performance against the third-tier outfit.

There will be particular interest in Mourinho's team selection at home to Leicester (11.30am GMT) and whether England and United captain Wayne Rooney, who has been in poor form, keeps his place.

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using traitors within the NDC to orchestrate the removal of the Majority Leader in Parliament Alban Bagbin, from his Nadowli-Kaleo seat.

There have been rumours that the Presidency is scheming to cause the defeat of Mr Bagbin because of the bad blood between him and President John Mahama.

Agya Koo Endorses Nana Addo For 2016

Today, it is sad to compare how these same prices of goods and services have increased astronomically as a result of poor economic policies and performance of the current leadership.

Now the ordinary Ghanaian cannot afford basic items like Milk, Sugar, Rice, Bread and other household commodities. We have taken the trouble to do a thorough research of prices of goods and services on the market and compared them to the time of the NPP administration.

I challenge anyone who disagrees with me to do his or her own checks from the markets to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of this sad situation.

Apart from being a movie star as many Ghanaians know to be, I am also a parent and know how expensive it is to give your children quality education in this country.

It is for this and other reasons that I have decided to join the voice for change by declaring my support for the Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo.

Klopp shies away from title talk

Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp refused to countenance the suggestion his side might be Premier League title contenders following their impressive 2-1 victory at Chelsea.

Dejan Lovren's close-range volley and Jordan Henderson's sublime 25-yard curler earned Liverpool victory at Stamford Bridge on Friday, with Diego Costa replying for the home side.

Liverpool have also beaten Arsenal and defending champions Leicester City this season, but Klopp was no more willing to discuss their title chances than he had been after their 3-1 win here last October.

"I'm really not interested," he told a reporter in the Stamford Bridge press conference room when asked about Liverpool's title prospects.

"Someone asked me that when we won 3-1 last season against Chelsea. My answer was: 'Are you crazy?' I remember it.

Goodness Me...Prez Mahama First Made The Promise To Construct A Dam! - Kobby Fiagbe Exclaims

Kobby Fiagbe
Scores of NPP faithfuls have accused President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of re-echoing the campaign promises of the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo.

To the NPP, the President does not have any new ideas to offer the people of Ghana and so will wait for Nana Addo to outline his vision to the general public and afterwards, do "copy and paste".

They however believe President John Mahama would steal their Manifesto if released before the NDC launches its Manifesto.

Due to this, the NPP has held on to their Manifesto and may or may not even disclose their intentions till the December polls.

But speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kobby Fiagbe, a member of the NDC Communication team has lambasted the NPP for accusing the NDC of stealing their (NPP's) promises.

“We score political points based on our achievements, not because we want somebody to die. What did we get out of the death of Prof Mills? President Mahama had a solid team. Keane warns Celtic after Barca defeat

Roy Keane
Former player Roy Keane has insisted Celtic need to do a "lot better" in Europe following their 7-0 loss away to Spanish giants Barcelona in the Champions League.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tried to insist the defeat at the Camp Nou was not an embarrassment. But as far as one-time Celtic midfielder Keane was concerned, Rodgers's words were concerning.

Celtic were the first British team to win the then European Cup in 1967, but for all their domestic dominance in recent seasons they have failed to make much of an impact upon the Champions League.

And Keane said the way Celtic celebrated their qualification for the main draw of the Champions League proper after scraping a 5-4 aggregate win over unheralded Israeli side Hapoel Be'er Sheva was troubling.

On Sunday Francesco Guidolin's Swansea City and Antonio Conte's Chelsea played out a 2-2 draw that was one of the most eventful matches of the season.

"It's the English league, every game is very, very tough," contest said after failing to win for the first time in his five competitive matches with the London club.

What he learnt, if he did not already know it, was that a team as dominant as Chelsea were for almost an hour, need to make more of 28 attempts on goal.

Diego Costa
Diego Costa scored twice, including an 81st-minute equaliser, as Antonio Conte maintained his unbeaten start to life as Chelsea manager in a 2-2 draw at Swansea City on Sunday.

The irrepressible Costa levelled with a deflected but spectacular overhead bicycle kick after Branislav Ivanovic's shot had been sent spinning in his direction.

The goal, Costa's fourth in as many games, spared Conte from his first loss in English football after two controversial Swansea goals in three second-half minutes had cancelled out Costa's opener.

"It's a bit difficult to talk about the game because we lost two points," Conte told Sky Sports.

Kante even better than Makelele - Matic

N'Golo Kante
New Chelsea enforcer N'Golo Kante is so good that he is even better than Stamford Bridge legend Claude Makelele, fellow midfielder Nemanja Matic has declared.

Attention ahead of Sunday's trip to Swansea City has focused on David Luiz, the Brazil centre-back who will make his second debut for Chelsea following his return from Paris Saint Germain on the final day of the transfer window.

Kante has drawn comparisons with fellow Frenchman Makelele, who excelled in the holding midfield role during Chelsea's back-to-back Premier League title triumphs in 2005 and 2006 during Jose Mourinho’s first spell as manager.

Ghana Now Spends More On Interest Payments Than On Infrastructure – Bawumia

Dr. Bawumia
Data provided by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana and NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, indicates that strangely, Ghana is today dolling out more to pay interest payments than it spends on infrastructural/ capital projects annually.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made this revelation at the Public Lecture held in Accra on Thursday on the theme “The State of the Ghanaian Economy – a foundation of concrete or straw”

Speaking to the charged audience, Dr.Bawumia revealed that while the norm is to have a situation where Infrastructure expenditure is far above interest payments, Ghana today was faced with the peculiar situation of paying more in interest payments than what it pays on infrastructural expenditure in the year as a result of the unbridled borrowing the NDC has done in the last 8 years.

“The data also shows that during the NPP period of governance, capital expenditure far exceeded interest payments. This is because low interest payments allow room for more capital expenditure. Infrastructure expenditure as a percentage of GDP declined sharply after 2008 as interest payments increased.

"Ghanaians should have hope and they will not vote for us and see different results; as for that one, it won’t happen this year because of our measures on the ground. They should have the hope that if they spend their time to vote for us, their votes will be counted accurately and they can be assured of that”, he indicated on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show.

Big Match Feature: Man Utd v City

Marcus Rashford
Featuring the rekindling of Pep rivalry with Mourinho, an all-star supporting cast and a host of tantalising sub-plots, Saturday's Manchester derby could be the most feverishly anticipated ever.

After losing four Premier League Manchester derbies in a row, Manchester United are unbeaten in their last three against City (W2 D1).

The only other time Man Utd and Man City won their first three matches of a PL season was in 2011/12, when City edged United to the title on goal difference.

Manchester City won the last Manchester derby in which both clubs had new managers – 4-1 in September 2013 when Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes were in charge.

Pep Guardiola has lost only three of his last 16 matches against Jose Mourinho (W7 D6).

Dr. Bawumia Carefully Selects Theories That Favours NPP - Presidential Staffer

Kojo Adu Asare
Presidential Staffer, Kojo Adu Asare says Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia skewed the facts on the state of Ghana's economy to favour his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and excite his party faithfuls.

According to him, he can never believe Dr. Bawumia because he has always been careful selecting economic issues that will project the image of the NPP and therefore not being objective on the real issues confronting the economy.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Adu Asare alluded to the same claims made by Dr. Bawumia to the effect that there were names of foreigners in the voter's register, which to him; Dr. Bawumia has not been able to establish a concrete proof.

“Until he comes out to tell Ghanaians that, well he misled all of us when he presented the fact that there were a certain number of people in our voter’s register who are foreigners and till today they have not been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that such allegation is the truth and it stands in his name. Until he comes to say that there was no truth in it or it was an attempt to mislead all of us, for me; it forms the basis to scrutinize every word Dr. Bawumia says.”

NPP ‘vindicated’ by cancellation of e-transmission process

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has welcomed the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to cancel the tender process for the procurement of the Election Results Management System (ERMS) for the 2016 elections.

The NPP also said the development is vindication of its position on the tender process to outsource the ERMS to a third party.

The NPP’s Director of Elections, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah said, “for me this vindicates our position, yes we need to e-transmit results but not necessarily using a third party.”

His party had argued that process failed to address the critical challenges that the election reform process seeks to overcome.
