Assuring on NEAT FM to provide evidence to back his claims – he was emphatic that the president’s policy is “not free” as purported.
“School will reopen soon and we will provide evidence of school fees paid by parents for their wards. Just in my constituency alone, I paid a whooping sum to support natives. In Lawra secondary school, I gave admitted students 700GHC each as tuition fees. Is this the free education they [NDC] are talking about? He queried on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed ‘Ghana Montie’.
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) after the 2012 election, decided to implement what it called a progressive free SHS policy, a replica of the NPP’s much hyped free SHS policy.
Government had explained that to make the policy successful, it is building 200 community day SHS blocks nationwide.
However, current statistics show that only ten have been completed, whereas 123 others are at various levels of completion.
NDC’s Kofi Adams has insisted that the tuition is ‘absolutely’ free but some necessities are not included in the policy so parents are forced to bear such costs.
He told NEAT FM morning show host, Kwesi Aboagye that – “Friday wears and other things are not part of the policy so parents pay for that.”
But his comment was rubbished by Karbo - “There is nothing like free in Mahama’s policy and I know parents will decide on that come December 7. The policy is not free, it is not free, or maybe only NDC members are benefiting from that policy”
