The acerbic-tongued supporter of ex-President John Dramani Mahama is now pleading for mercy after he was exposed by a top NPP guru, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori-Atta aka ‘Tomtom’.

Tomtom, who was part of Ghana’s delegation to the US, stated on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, that he would make sure Appiah Stadium is dealt with by the law.

Provisional results of 2017 WASSCE released by WAEC

 The West African Examination Council has released provisional results of the 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to WAEC, this year’s figures show a slight improvement of last year’s results.

The Council in a statement on Wednesday and signed by Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, said while it is working at dispatching the results to various schools students could also access their results online via the WAEC website.

An eyewitness in the Lapaz shooting incident which saw two police officers gunned down by armed robbers has revealed that the officers were unarmed when the attack took place.

Two police officers were shot in broad daylight at Lapaz in Accra Thursday, July 13. The criminals who were on a robbery mission shot the policemen who tried stopping them by giving them a hot chase on their motorbikes.

Speaking to JoyNews, the witness (name withheld) stated that the police would have been able to counter the attacks but for their defenseless state at the time they were pursuing the suspects.

“I think it would have helped if the policemen had guns also, if they had it in this instance, they would have been able to fight back”.

UEW application was dismissed by Winneba High Court

The Winneba High Court, presided over by His Lordship Justice George Atto-Mills, today [Monday], dismissed a motion for interlocutory injunction on the Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba.

On June 16 this year, counsel for the University and the Ministry of Education, Peter Zwennes, prayed the court to dismiss the suit, because in their view, the plaintiff, Supi Kwayera, lacks the capacity to sue the institution.

The counsel again argued that the court also lacks jurisdiction to adjudicate the claims by the plaintiff.

Edwina Akufo-Addo, the daughter of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has denied any involvement in the contaminated fuel saga raging at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST).

According to President Akufo-Addo, 17 years ago, during the presidential campaign of then candidate John Agyekum Kufuor, he gave a solemn pledge to the people of Takoradi, in the Western Region, that, if elected, his government will concentrate attention to discovering oil in commercial quantities.

Seventy four disabled persons have been employed by the New Patriotic Party government to operate some toll booths across the country.

Woyome’s application ‘rubbished’ by Supreme Court

An application filed by businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome to halt his oral examination by the Attorney General has been rejected by the Supreme Court.

Mr. Woyome who was seeking to halt a request by the Attorney-General’s department to question him regarding how he intends paying off the GHC 51.2 million judgement debt awarded him, filed an application to that effect.

According to him, Article 134 (b) of the 1992 Constitution provides him the right to apply for a stay of the decision of a single Justice of the Supreme Court and to ask for a panel of three Justices of the Supreme Court to vary, discharge and or reverse the order of the single Justice of the Supreme Court.

Presiding Judge on the case, A.A Benin, ruled that the stay of the executive was baseless and had no grounds and hence dismissed the application.
Woyome was initially scheduled to be examined on Thursday, July 29 2017 but the process was put on hold after he submitted an application for a stay of proceedings.

Gov’t, BNI covering up contaminated fuel saga – Minority

The Minority has accused the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) of an intent to cover up the alleged rot at the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) in the sale of some 5 million litres of contaminated fuel.

Reports are emerging that the BNI has taken over the probe of the matter from the committee set by the Energy Ministry, and also exonerated the embattled Managing Director of BOST, Alfred Obeng Boateng of any wrongdoing.

Addressing the press in Parliament today [Tuesday], the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, indicated that, they will stop at nothing to expose the alleged rot at BOST.

BOST MD Clears By BNI

The Bueau of National Investigations (BNI) and the National Security have cleared the Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company Limited, Alfred Obeng Boateng, of any wrongdoing in the sale of 5 million litres of contaminated fuel, a document sighted by kasapafmonline as revealed.

This follows investigations conducted by the two state security agencies into the controversial sale of the contaminated fuel to Movenpiina Company Limited.

Some aspects of the intercepted report have it that:

1. The product contamination occurred on January 18, 2017 and the MD for BOST assumed office on January 23, 2017 and cannot be held responsible for it.

2. As a competent MD, he interdicted the officers involved and set up a six-member committee chaired by the Head of Internal Audit Department, Mr. Edmund Aquah on February 8, 2017 to find out the causes of the contamination.

3. The MD has received a draft copy of the committee’s report waiting for the final report on July 7, 2017.

Woyome prays court to ‘halt’ proceedings for oral examination

Businessman Alfred Woyome, has prayed the Supreme Court to stay proceedings of its ruling, granting an application by the Attorney General to orally examine him over the refund of the 51 million cedis judgment debt paid him.

According to Mr. Woyome, his Lawyer, Ken Anku, had filed for a review of the court’s ruling paving way for the oral examination, hence their request to have the oral examination which was expected to take place today [Thursday] halted.

In his argument, Ken Anku stated that, his client will suffer an irreparable damage if the oral examination takes place before the review is heard.

Responding to the application, a Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Dame, opposed the request for a stay of proceedings, describing the reasons as improper.

Prempeh College has emerged the winners of the 2017 edition of the National Science and Maths (NSMQ) quiz for the fourth time.

First in 1994, then 1996, before the last in 2015.

The 22nd edition of the competition saw 135 Senior High Schools competing from the beginning.

However, the grand final was keenly contested between defending champions Adisadel College, 2013 winners St. Thomas Aquinas and three-time champions Prempeh College.

The first round of the final featured fundamental general questions from the field of study and ended with Prempeh College leading with 28 points to Aquinas’s 23 points and Adisadel with 13 points.

38 ‘unlicensed’ firms bought contaminated fuel in 2015, 2016

Citi News has laid hands on a document naming at least Thirty Eight (38) companies without a National Petroleum Authority (NPA), license, yet the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST), sold Twenty Million, Five Hundred and Ninety Thousand (20, 590,000) litres of contaminated fuel to them in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

This means the illegality happened under the leadership of the former BOST Managing Director, Kwame Awuah-Darko, who according to some staff of BOST, is seeking to have his rot covered up by the raging brouhaha over contaminated fuel sale under the new MD.

The revelation comes at a time when the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), has taken issues with BOST for selling 5 million litres of contaminated fuel to two unlicensed companies, Movepiina and Zup Oil, which were allegedly set up few days before the sale.

Police deal with Savelugu protesters

The Northern Regional Police Command has said it is on standby to deal ruthlessly with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) members disrupting the work of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Savelugu Nantong, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu.

On Monday, President Akufo Addo charged the Police to arrest his party members, who have prevented the MCE from working, since her confirmation by Assembly members.
They insist Madam Ayishetu must be removed at all cost, claiming she’s an alien to the party in the area.

Welcoming the President’s call, the Northern Regional Police PRO, ASP Muhammed Tanko, said they are already on standby to deal with the trouble makers.

Abdul F. Ismail pleads guilty to making bomb threat at US University

A Ghanaian who was arrested in April after telling his date that he was a terrorist and would blow up her University of Massachusetts dormitory pleaded guilty on Monday to a single charge of threatening to commit a crime.

Abdul F. Ismail entered the plea in Eastern Hampshire Court, admitting to his role in the April 11 incident.

He avoided any jail time as Judge Thomas Estes placed his conviction "on file" for the next 12 months, meaning no sentence will be imposed if he stays out of trouble over that time.

However, Ismail was taken into custody by United State Immigration and Customs Enforcement shortly after the end of the court proceedings, according to Mary Carey, communications director for Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan.

NPP Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahene says it will be advisable for the ruling ‘Elephant’ fraternity to capitalize on the findings of the 13-member committee set up by the opposition NDC to review their defeat.

Parliament’s Appointments Committee will today [Friday], June 16, 2017, vet Justice Sophia Akuffo, President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of Chief Justice.

The Appointments Committee had earlier set June 19 for the vetting, but announced on Tuesday, June 13, that it had to reschedule the vetting to this week to avoid keeping the position vacant for long.

The first Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Joseph Osei-Owusu, told pressmen that it was necessary to fast-track the vetting to ensure that Justice Akuffo, when approved, fills in the position ahead of the retirement of the acting Chief Justice, William Atuguba.

“The Chief Justice [Georgina Theodora Wood] has retired already… a vacuum, so to speak, has been created because the next available senior [Justice William Atuguba] is also due to retire in a few days from now. We considered all the circumstances and as a committee, we reviewed the fact that to date, no petition has been brought against the CJ nominee. It may be helpful to abridge the time and do it as quickly as possible.

Ghana’s former Deputy Head of Mission to Saudi Arabia, Hajia Hawawu Boya Gariba, has lent credence to speculations that government heavyweights and influential persons in society are behind the trafficking of young Ghanaian girls to the Gulf states.

Speaking on PM Express on the Joy News channel on Multi TV, Monday, Hajia Gariba said although she would not mention names now, trafficking of girls to the Gulf States, many of whom are abused, has been difficult to fight due to the involvement of these influential persons.

5 suspects arrested for lynching alleged ‘witch’ to be arraigned

 Five suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a 67 year old woman will be dragged before the Bolgatanga Magistrate court today for conspiracy to crime and murder.

The deceased, Yenboka Kenna, who left behind three children was lynched on the 28th of May 2017 at the Pelungu market in the Nabdam district of the Upper East Region.

Sixty three (63) suspects were subsequently rounded up in a joint Police-Military operation last Saturday to assist the Police with their investigations.

Speaking to Citi News, the Bolgatanga Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Samuel Punobyin said, after a thorough screening of the 63 suspects, 5 of them will be arraigned today, while the remaining fifty eight (58) have been granted Police enquiry bail because they were not connected to the issue.

This time it was Ghanaians (public) who attended the funeral, who out of desperation and frustration, used the occasion to demand for the return of the former President John Dramani Mahama. The former leader who is an uncle to the deceased, entered the funeral ground quietly with his aides only to be barricaded by some of the mourners who shed tears and shouted slogans expressing regrets for voting against him in the last election. The former President's aides had to intervene to avert moves which could have affect the programme.

The Minority’s petition to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission has triggered a full blown investigation into allegations of conflict of interest and insider trading in the recent 2.25 billion dollar bond issue by the Akufo-Addo government.

According to the Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a case manager, Jennifer M. Carr, has been handed the brief to commence the probe.

“I can confirm to you that the Securities and Exchange Commission of the United States of America has formally communicated to us and informed us that a case manager by name Jennifer M. Carr has been appointed as the case manager on this case.”

NPP gov’t will complete University of Ghana Stadium – Isaac Asiamah

Mr. Isaac Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports on Thursday inspected the University of Ghana Sports Stadium to assess its current state.

Mr. Asiamah together with Prof. Emmanuel Oduro Owusu, the Vice Chancellor of the University, had a thorough inspection of the 14-year-old edifice, which is yet to be completed.

Alhaji Bature hit back Rawlings over $5m Gift From A Thief

 Contrary to claims that he received $2 million which was used for a nationalistic project, emerging evidence indicate that that the former President of Ghana received $5 million.

Managing Editor of the Al Hajj Newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu on Tuesday June 6, 2017 disclosed that the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Jerry John Rawlings received $5 million dollars from Nigerian military leader Sani Abacha, who served as head of state between 1993 and 1998.

Funeral Arrangements for Major Mahama

 The State Protocol Office has outlined details of the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama’s funeral service.
A statement from the office indicated that, the deceased will be given a state burial with “full military honours at the Osu Military Cemetery, after a burial service at the Forecourt of the State House.”

The late soldier is to be buried on Friday, June 9th, 2017.

Rawlings' regime was characterized with corruption - Kweku Baako

Seasoned journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has lambasted Ex-President Rawlings for posturing himself as more Catholic than the Pope.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako posited that Mr. Rawlings has no moral right to pontificate on corruption in the country.

According to Mr. Baako, the Rawlings' regime was extremely characterized with corruption and the latter himself played active role in this national canker.

Addressing a gathering at the 38th anniversary of June 4 revolution held at Wa in the Upper West on Sunday, the former President blamed his party - the National Democratic Congress - for their humiliating defeat in the 2016 elections.

No new vehicles has been bought, says Nana Oppong

Head of Transport and Logistics at the Presidency Nana Oppong has dispelled claims that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has purchased new luxurious vehicles from Dubai.

Reports are that the Presidency has purchased 56 new presidential vehicles which are yet to be imported to the country.

Many believe the President is just throwing dust in the eyes of the public by instructing his appointees not to buy new cars yet he has.

3 Peoples arrested in Nabdam over lynching of a ‘witch’

 The Upper East Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the lynching of a 67-year-old woman accused of being a witch.

The deceased, Madam Yenboka Kenna, a widow, was killed at the Pelungu market on Monday, May 29, 2017.


The Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Redeemer, told Citi News that the police cannot prove whether those arrested were directly involved in the lynching, but  they are currently assisting the police in investigation.

He said while conducting the investigations in the village where the incident happened, some young men came in to stop a witness from giving information to the police investigation, hence were picked up.

Koku Anyidoho Said, Akufo-Addo Is Not Fighting Corruption

Deputy General Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has said corruption under Akufo-Addo is going to be worst with the way things are going now.

According to him, as immoral act is part of corruption, appointing 110 ministers is immoral act as this will put pressure of the public purse; adding that the government agencies are filled with families, friends and party cronies.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated unequivocally that he will not shield any public official found to be engaged in acts of corruption or malfeasance, but will ensure that the laws of the land are applied fully, without fear or favour.
