An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday granted bail to all 3 SA ex-police officers, but they were immediately whisked away by the BNI after court proceedings.

This, Atta Akyea observed, is an affront to the legal proceedings as well as an embarrassment to the state considering the manner in which the BNI conducted itself, threatening to cite them for contempt.

They were allegedly brought into Ghana by Captain Koda, the head of security for NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo.

NPP claims the training was to enable its security personnel perfect crowd control and better protect the flagbearer.

Victor Smith
Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E Ambassador Victor Emmanuel Smith says he is unable to state what Ghana’s position is on the issue of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights.

His comments come after Minority MPs in the Scottish Parliament stormed out of their parliament upon arrival of the President John Mahama who is on a state visit over claims that Ghana tolerates abuses on homosexuals. They argued the presence of Mr. Mahama was an affront to the gay community in their country since they respect and recognize their rights.

The action has been roundly criticized by several Ghanaians respected Ghanaian lawyer Ace Ankomah. The astute lawyer in his remarks on the matter described the action by the MPs as cheap, crass and low.

However speaking on Kasapa FM, Ambassador Victor Smith, who is part of President Mahama’s entourage stated that as a representative of Ghana in the UK, he’ll repeat the same statements late President Mills made that Ghana does not support gay practices in the country, if he (Victor Smith) should ever be asked abroad about Ghana’s position on the matter.

Ato Forson - Bawumia won’t succeed with lies

Ato Forson
Deputy Finance Minister, Cassel Ato Forson has described as mischievous and very dangerous, a deliberate attempt by NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate to misrepresent facts about Ghana’s debt stock.

In his opinion, the subjective analysis by NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, who is now leading the party’s 2016 campaign, is intended to mislead unsuspecting Ghanaians to score cheap political points. Mr Forson is particularly worried because the agenda by the NPP and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia who was once a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank can affect Ghana’s image.

Grant has been back in Accra for two weeks now and spent time travelling to the Tema, Dawu and Accra league centers. That has impressed Vanderpuye.

NPP Issues STATEMENT On Independence Day Brochure Fiasco

Nana Akomea
THE INDEPENDENCE DAY BROCHURE FIASCO:
THERE MUST BE AN IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION INTO THIS CLEAR EVIDENCE OF INCOMPETENCE

To say that the deficiencies in the content and text of the March 6 2016 independence day brochure are bewildering is an understatement.

The designation of the Kenyan president as the President of Ghana (for instance) led Ghana to be held up to severe ridicule in the Kenyan press and social media circles.

How the official brochure for perhaps the biggest national event (outside the 2016 general elections) can be so full of mistakes (on literally every page) calls into question the competence of government and public officials at several levels, including the ministry of communications, the information services department, state protocol department and the flagstaff house communications office.

The Asantehene, who was addressing a group of chiefs and elders of the Ashanti Kingdom on his return from South Africa, said each of the two main political parties, the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had occasionally accused him of belonging to either of the groups, but he would not be bothered by such utterances.

Rev. Sam Korankye who believes that Obinim is tarnishing the image of Christians described church members of his church as a ‘bunch of ignorant people’.

“Right discerning people will not sit under this man. Those who go to sit there and other such places is amazing. We have come to a place where people don’t care about the salvation of their souls anymore, they don’t care about what the Bible says about Heaven and Hell and the coming of Christ.

United eye top four

Marcus Rashford
Manchester United's hopes of Champions League qualification are growing as their injury list shrinks and boss Louis van Gaal appears much more optimistic now than the man who recently looked set for the sack.

A fourth successive victory was ground out on Wednesday as Van Gaal's side beat Watford 1-0, moving them to within reach of the Premier League's top four as they prepare to visit West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

The two teenagers in United's starting line-up in midweek both acquitted themselves well, with Marcus Rashford proving more effective when switched from a central attacking role to the right wing for the second half.

In addition, Timothy Fosu-Mensah showed great composure to get through the game at centre-back despite having to play for 67 minutes with a yellow card to his name.
