The paper understands that polling station executives have also braced themselves up to follow suit in a move geared toward showing their solidarity and loyalty to Nii Noi Nortey who, is currently being courted by other political parties ahead of the November 2016 polls.
The frustration of these party sympathizers the paper gathered was borne out of the fact that, Mr. Nortey and the people of Klottey Korle were not being respected. They also claim the party’s own rules have been skewed by the national executives at the expense of the people’s choice.
It would be recalled that, the current Constituency Chairperson, the Vice and other constituency executives threw their weight behind Mr. Nortey throughout the court action initiated by Lawyer Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah.
However, they see this decision as the best way to save themselves and avoid bearing the brunt of Lawyer Addison and his people.
Speaking to the Daily Heritage on condition of anonymity a source close to the executives of the constituency said, “As I talk to you, most of our constituency executives are about tendering in their resignation letters. Most of the polling station executives will also be following in similar direction.”
According to the sources some of the supporters of Dr. Zenator Rawlings and Nii Armah Ashitey who are also aggrieved at the happenings in the National Democratic Congress have joined forces with Nii Noi Nortey to go as independent candidate.
“We will be having a meeting to decide on that. They are calling on Nii to go as an independent candidate and that is what we are considering but it will depend on what happens after their court case too.”
Some supporters described Saturday’s election as fraud and that they are urging their man, Nii Noi Nortey, to go as an independent candidate in the 2016 elections.
His supporters who were disappointed with the outcome of the election have threatened to vote massively for Dr. Zenator Rawlings, the NDC parliamentary Candidate for the area to register their protest.
The NPP Steering Committee ordered a re-run of the primary election in the area after months of controversy after the first primary when Lawyer Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah both contestants took the matter to court, praying it to declare the election of Nii Noi Nortey as null and void.
Lawyer Philip Addison defeated Nii Noi Nortey in the New Patriotic party Parliamentary Primary re-run to become the new Parliamentary Candidate for the Klottey Korley Constituency.
Out of the 790 delegates who were expected to cast their ballots, 765 voted in the election. Out of the number of delegates who turned up to cast their votes, Lawyer Addison polled 396 votes to beat his arch rival Nii Noi Nortey who garnered 367 votes.
