The Police had secured an injunction to prevent the group from embarking on a demonstration tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, the IGP  said “the Police does not go to court to prevent anyone from exercising their right to demonstrate” but “sometimes, we do that given what trend analysis and assessment we have done.”

He says police should defend themselves if they are attacked by any section of the society. “Police should respect the citizenry but if anyone attacks you, defend yourself to the letter,” said the Commander. DCOP Boakye however cautions personnel against any acts that will compromise security and democracy. He bemoaned, “the situation where when somebody in a position says democracy is the Rule of Law and maintenance of law and order.

The Bishops/Pastors Network is calling on the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, to be bold and listen to the majority of Ghanaians who are calling for a new voters’ register for the conduct of December 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

In a letter, dated 22nd September, 2015, which was addressed to the EC Chairperson, and copied to the National Peace Council, Christian Council, the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, the Ghana Pentecostal Council, the National Association of Christian and Charismatic Churches, the political parties and the media, the group explained that as network of clergy men it is their duty to pray for the leadership of the nation, and also add their voices to matters of national concern.

Neymar, Barcelona striker had talks with Premier League side Manchester United but no offer was made, the player confirmed on Friday.

The Brazilian hitman, part of Barca's devastating attacking trio that hit 122 goals last season as the club won the treble, was linked to a move to United who needed a striker and went on to sign Anthony Martial.

"There were talks but nothing came of them," Neymar told ESPN Brazil. "There were rumours but I never received an offer."

Ghana is not going HIPC - IMF Clears the way

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has discounted reports that Ghana is a Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) and could access relief under the HIPC initiative.

It said that Ghana had already received debt relief under the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) initiative and could, therefore, not pursue further relief under the initiative.

In a response to a query by the Daily Graphic, the IMF said Ghana reached its decision point in February 2002 and its completion point in July 2004.

The Daily Graphic had written to the IMF for explanation following reports that Ghana had gone HIPC once again.

Messi in troble, suffering from knee injury

Lionel Messi  suffer knee ligament damage that will keep him out for eight weeks but  Barcelona won 2-1  over Las Palmas on Saturday, the Catalan giants confirmed.

"Tests have confirmed that Leo Messi suffered a torn internal collateral knee ligament. The estimated time out will be seven to eight weeks," Barcelona said in a statement.

Messi, 28, looks set to be sidelined for at least eight Barca games, as well as Argentina's first four 2018 World Cup qualifiers, including a meeting a home to Brazil on November 13.

Moreover, he is now a huge doubt for the first El Clasico of the season away to Real Madrid on November 21.

City's unexpected capitulation opened the door for Louis van Gaal's side and they strolled through it courtesy of goals from Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney, who ended a 1 000-minute league scoring drought, and Juan Mata.

Depay made the breakthrough in first-half stoppage time, tapping home after Daley Blind's fine pass was volleyed across goal by Mata, with Rooney and Mata finishing the job in the second half.

Reacting to Abeiku Santana’s absence in the parliamentary race, Allotey Jacobs averred on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show that he cannot explain the reason for which the renowned broadcaster bowed out at the eleventh hour.

Arsenal have won an appeal against Brazilian defender Gabriel's sending-off in Saturday's Premier League defeat to Chelsea, the Football Association confirmed on Tuesday.

Gabriel was dismissed following an off-the-ball clash with Chelsea striker Diego Costa late in the first half of the Gunners' 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge and was facing a three-match ban for violent conduct.

"Arsenal's claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Gabriel has been upheld following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing," read a statement from the FA.

According to an international survey involving almost 40 countries, Ghana is perceived to be the 3rd country with the most  corruption

In a simple survey by GallUp where ciitizens from each country were asked a simple question; 'Is corruption widespread throughout the government in this country, or not?'

The US-based pollster conducted phone interviews in countries with a free press, as indicated by Freedom House's press freedom rankings, asking respondents whether they believed corruption was widespread in the government of their country.

The US extradition proceedings against Jack Warner, a former vice-president of football’s world governing body Fifa, are to go ahead after being approved by Trinidad’s attorney general.

The US wants to try Mr Warner, 72, a Trinidadian national, on corruption charges.

He is accused of accepting millions of dollars in bribes.

He and 13 other current or former Fifa officials were indicted in May.

Both Diego Costa and Gabriel have been charged by the Football Association after incidents in Saturday's bad-tempered Premier League derby at Stamford Bridge

The FA said on its website that Costa had been charged with an alleged "act of violent conduct" after television replays showed him catching Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny with his arm in an incident not spotted at the time by the referee.

"Off the ball incidents which are not seen at the time by the match officials are referred to a panel of three former elite referees," an FA statement said.
