The Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs was shock and surprise that Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana could not join the race to contest for the Mfantseman East Constituency as he indicated.

The first phase of the ruling NDC Parliamentary primaries scheduled to take place on November 7, 2015 has ended successively in the Central Region as Parliamentary aspirants have been vetted.

Popular Radio Presenter, Gilbert Aggrey also known as Abeiku Santana announced his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primaries in the Mfantseman East constituency in the Central Regional.

But when vetting of NDC parliamentary aspirants in Central Region ended on Wednesday September 23, 2015 at the Conference room of the Central Regional NDC office, the ace broadcaster Abeiku Santana was not among the aspirants as he didn’t pick nomination forms.

Reacting to Abeiku Santana’s absence in the parliamentary race, Allotey Jacobs averred on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show that he cannot explain the reason for which the renowned broadcaster bowed out at the eleventh hour.

He asserted that it is disappointing not have the caliber of Abeiku Santana in the NDC parliamentary race in the Central Region as his involvement could have added up in building the image of the party.

He however was happy that the likes of former TV3 Morning Show host, Eric Don Arthur is among the caliber of aspirants contesting in the Central Region.

“I was surprised that Abeiku Santana could not join the race as he earlier indicated. I was happy when he said he was contesting because he has always been part of the activities in the Central Region as Master of Ceremony; he is very popular in the Central Region but I don’t know why he decided to change his mind at the last minute,” he asserted.

“His caliber would have enriched the image of the party as ace broadcaster, but the reason for opting out is best known to him…I have not asked him for his reason...it is disappointing, but he has his right to decide what he want,” he added.
