The clash between West Ham and Newcastle

Andy Carroll
West Ham United have been boosted by the news that Andy Carroll is in contention to make the squad for the visit of his old club Newcastle United in the Barclays Premier League on Monday.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic confirmed they have altered the striker's training regime in order to help him avoid further niggling injuries.

Bilic could also hand a debut to three deadline-day signings, with Victor Moses, Michail Antonio and Nikica Jelavic all available to start. The match will come too soon for Alex Song (ankle), Mauro Zarate (hamstring), Joey O'Brien (calf) and Enner Valencia (knee), while goalkeeper Adrian serves the last match of his three-match ban.

West Ham have won one of their last five BPL meetings with Newcastle and only two of their last nine at home to the Magpies. McClaren's men have earned only two points from their nine previous way matches in the top, although the last came in a 0-0 draw with Manchester United in August.

West Ham United have won only two of their last nine Barclays Premier League matches against Newcastle United at the Boleyn Ground, drawing three and losing four.

The Magpies have picked up only two points from their last nine league away matches (D2 L7).
In the teams' two meetings last season, Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko was sent off at West Ham but scored at St. James' Park.

West Ham have netted three or more goals in consecutive BPL matches for the first time since March 2011, when they did it three times in a row.
