Hannah Tetteh - Gitmo Ex-Detainees Can Go To The Shopping Malls, But
Shoppers and revelers who patronize the various shopping malls across the country are likely to meet the two alleged ISIS affiliates from Guantanamo bay at the malls during shopping times.
Yes! The two ex-detainees, Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby are free to move around the country during their two years stay in Ghana.
According to the Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh – the duo will have the privilege to visit public places but with a well protective eyes from the national security and other security services.
She opined that prisoners cannot be restricted totally from the public – but throughout the period they are here, they are going to be continuously under surveillance.
Speaking on Accra-based Radio Gold - Hanna Tetteh specified that the two detainees “Can go to the shopping malls but they cannot just stand up and go to the malls, they will be protected and instructed on what to do before they take any move.”
Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalid Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby, arrived in Ghana on Thursday January 7, 2016 for a two-year stay as part of a deal reached between the United States of America and the Government of Ghana.
They are delighted to be in Ghana and have expressed their love for Ghana’s Black Star skipper, Asamoah Gyan.
