Prez Mahama Accepts Power Minister’s Resignation

President John Dramani Mahama has accepted the resignation of Dr. Kwabena Donkor (MP) as Minister for Power.

The President thanked Dr. Donkor for his services as the pioneer Minister for the new ministry carved out of the then Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

Dr Kwabena Donkor handed in his resignation on Thursday, December 31, 2015, following what Graphic Online understands were moves to sack him if he failed to resign.

Dr. Donkor had upon his appointment, put his job on the line by offering to resign at the end of the year if he failed to resolve the energy crisis facing the country, particularly load shedding.

The Ministry on Wednesday announced an end to load shedding, however the Load Management Committee has since repudiated the claim, saying despite significant gains in the energy situation, load shedding was not over.
