NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Suame Constituency, Yaw Brogya Genfi |
He explained that, considering the movement of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) by keenly following the campaign steps of the ruling NDC in the Ashanti Region, the NPP have no direction in their campaign.
Brogya Genfi, who is the NDC's Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer, sarcastically quizzed “Is NDC in Ashanti region? I thought they said NDC has no support base in the region. If not, who are those that they say are going into hiding after seeing Nana Akufo Addo in the region?"
Commenting on the NPP's recent tour of the Ashanti Region on Okay FM’s Morning Show, Brogya, who is also NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Suame Consituency insisted it is clear from Nana Akufo- Addo quick visit to the region that the visit of the President to this region has greatly affected the opposition party.
“If you can recall the crowd on national television when the President visited the region to commission and cut sod for other projects, there is no need to look at any other crowd. The kind of work the President has done in Ashanti Region, if Nana Addo will come to this region and he excites people, maybe they just want to be happy because in the whole country, Ashanti Region is the only place many of the President’s Community Day Schools have been completed”, he asserted.
“This is the only region which has also witnessed most of the developmental projects in the country and so when it comes to the performance of the President in the Ashanti Region, nobody will bear witness for others; we have all seen them in the region and we know”.
He thus named the NPP’s campaign to be ‘attacking from behind’, as the places the president visited in the region are the same places Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP are visiting in their campaign.
“This means that we are dictating the pace and so Nana Addo should go and rest to wait for the president’s next visit then they can follow suit. Nana Akufo Addo’s visit does not disturb the fortunes of NDC in the region at all”, he added.
To him, the NDC's target of winning over one million votes in the Ashanti Region is on course.
“...when we look at the movement of the NPP, we are sure of crossing the one million votes...Ashanti Region happens to be NPP stronghold and if they are visiting the exact places the President toured in the region, then it means they are greatly affected by his (Mahama’s) visit”, he indicated.
