Six arrested for forging documents

Ghana Police
Six people have been arrested by the Ashanti regional police for using forged documents to apply for recruitment into the Ghana Police Service.

Officials of the Ashanti Regional Enlistment Team in the Ashanti Region, said from initial examination, the suspects were found to have forged either academic or birth certificates.

The suspects will be arraigned in court pending further investigation.

Service recruitment exercises have over the years been burdened with many irregularities. Many civilians liaise with some police officers to swindle unsuspecting Ghanaians of thousands of cedis after promising to have them recruited into the Police Service.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has already begun its next phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise, which is the selection stage.

Director or Public Affairs, Supt. Cephas Arthur had earlier cautioned that the police will, in the course of the next phase of the exercise, arrest and prosecute recruitment applicants who produce forged or fake documents.

According to the police, the forged documents could either be an academic certificate or a birth certificate.

The police said applicants can log onto the police website: www.police.gov.gh for the same information.

“On the reporting day-18th July, 2016, qualified candidates are required to bring along the following document and items.

Copy of the print out of reply to online application indicating their qualification to the next stage.

    Original copy of birth certificate.

    Original Copy of J.H.S certificate.

    Original copy of S.H.S certificate

    Two (2) passport-size photographs

“Candidates are also advised to make arrangement to stay for the entire duration of the process,” a statement from the police said
